Conflict of Interest Policy

Transparency helps readers evaluate the information and perspectives they encounter. This policy explains how ScholarsView approaches financial, professional, personal and commercial interests that may influence published content.

Our Commitment to Transparency

ScholarsView welcomes professional insights, informed opinions and independent analysis from creators across different fields.

However, a creator's financial interests, professional relationships or personal connections may sometimes influence how a subject is presented or how readers interpret an article.

We encourage creators to disclose relevant interests so readers have the context necessary to evaluate published information and opinions.

What Is a Conflict of Interest?

A conflict of interest occurs when a person's financial, professional, personal or other interests could influence their judgment, analysis or presentation of a subject.

A conflict does not automatically mean that an article is inaccurate or that a creator has acted improperly. However, failing to disclose a relevant interest may prevent readers from fully understanding the context behind the content.

Disclosure allows readers to make more informed assessments of the material they are reading.

Examples of Potential Conflicts

The following examples illustrate situations in which disclosure may be appropriate. They are not an exhaustive list.

01

Financial Interests

Ownership of shares, investments, financial interests or other economic benefits connected to a company, product or organisation discussed in an article.

02

Professional Relationships

Current or previous employment, consultancy, advisory positions, directorships or other professional relationships with an organisation discussed in the content.

03

Business and Commercial Relationships

Sponsorships, partnerships, paid collaborations, affiliate arrangements, commissions or other commercial relationships that may be relevant to an article.

04

Personal Relationships

Family, personal or close professional relationships that could reasonably influence how a person, organisation or subject is presented.

05

Gifts and Benefits

Gifts, complimentary products, travel, hospitality or other benefits received from an organisation or individual whose activities are discussed.

Responsibilities of Creators

Creators are expected to identify and disclose interests that could reasonably affect the independence or perceived objectivity of their published work.

  • ✓Identify any relevant financial, professional, personal or commercial interests.
  • ✓Disclose relevant relationships that could reasonably affect the perception of an article's independence.
  • ✓Avoid presenting paid promotions or sponsored opinions as independent analysis.
  • ✓Ensure that disclosed relationships do not replace evidence-based reasoning.
  • ✓Inform ScholarsView if a relevant conflict becomes apparent after publication.

How Disclosures Should Be Presented

Relevant disclosures should be clear, understandable and placed where readers can reasonably notice them. They should not be hidden in unrelated text or written in a way that makes the relationship difficult to understand.

Where appropriate, creators should include a short disclosure statement within the article explaining the nature of the relevant relationship.

Example Disclosure

"The author has a professional relationship with the organisation discussed in this article. This relationship is disclosed for transparency."

This is an illustrative example. Creators should describe their actual relationship accurately.

Sponsored and Commercial Content

Any paid collaboration, sponsorship, affiliate relationship or other commercial arrangement relevant to an article should be disclosed clearly.

Commercial relationships should not be misrepresented as independent editorial recommendations or unbiased analysis.

Creators must not make unsupported claims about products, services or organisations in exchange for compensation or other benefits.

ScholarsView's Approach

ScholarsView expects creators to follow this policy and disclose relevant interests when publishing content.

Where a potential conflict is reported or identified, ScholarsView may request additional information, ask for an appropriate disclosure, request content changes or take other action under its platform policies.

Creator approval and publication do not mean that ScholarsView has independently verified every relationship or financial interest associated with an article.

Report a Potential Conflict
