GREAT Scholarships offer students of about 14 countries the opportunity to have £10,000 tuition fees for a wide range of one-year taught on postgraduate courses.
In the 2023-2024 academic year, 200 scholarships are offered by 49 universities across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

Each scholarship is jointly funded by the UK government’s GREAT Britain Campaign and the British Council with participating of UK higher education institutions.
As part of the programme, all GREAT scholars will be invited to a welcome event in the first semester and a networking event in the second semester.
2. Chevening Scholarship

What You Need To Know About Chevening Scholarship
It is funded by the Foreign aid, Commonwealth & Development Office and partner organisations, Chevening Scholarships are awarded to individuals with demonstrable leadership potential and strong academic backgrounds. The scholarship offers full financial support to study for any eligible master’s degree at any of UK universities whilst also gaining access to a wide range of exclusive academic, professional, and cultural experiences.
As the programme created in 1983, over 50,000 outstanding professionals have had the opportunity to develop in the UK through Chevening. There are more than 1,500 scholarships on offer globally in the year 2022-2023 academic year, demonstrating the UK’s ongoing commitment
How It Works
All applicants undergo a rigorous selection process. The most suitable applicants are then personally selected by British embassies and high commissions around the world.
As a fully-funded scholarship, you’ll receive tuition or programme fees, living expenses, and return flights to the UK. You will also ger access to exclusive networking events, workshops, talks, internships, and volunteering opportunities, giving you a diverse introduction to life in a global role taking.

How To Apply
You can apply for a Chevening Scholarship by selecting your country from the dropdown list at www.chevening.org/apply. After submitting your application, it will be assessed against Chevening’s eligibility criteria. Those applications deemed eligible will then be assessed by independent reading committees, who will create a long-list of applicants.
If you are long listed, you will be invited to submit references and attend an interview with the British embassy or high commission in the country to which you applied. These face-to-face interviews are conducted in English by a panel, who will ask you questions about your personal and professional goals, and how a Chevening Scholarship would help you achieve them. Your choice of courses will also be taken into consideration. The panel will then score your interview against the global Chevening criteria.
Deadline For Application
Applications for 2022-23 Chevening Scholarships are closed.
Successful applicants will be announced in June 2023. If you are among them, you will begin your UK studies in September/October 2023.
3. Common Wealth Scholarship
If you are from a Commonwealth country and believe you could make a difference to the world but you can’t afford to fund your UK studies on your own, then you could be the ideal candidate for a Commonwealth Scholarship.
What Is Common Wealth Scholarship
The Commonwealth Scholarships scheme is aimed at students from across the Commonwealth who would not otherwise be able to afford to study in the UK. By funding postgraduate studies in a range of different study formats, the scheme helps to support future leaders.
This historic award is the UK’s primary scholarship scheme focus on supporting British international development goals. It is designed to attract outstanding talent to UK universities whilst also supporting sustainable development overseas.
Eligibility
To apply for a Commonwealth Scholarship, you must be a citizen or permanent resident of a Commonwealth country. You will still be eligible if you are a refugee or British protected person.
You also need to have an undergraduate honours degree of at least upper second class (2:1). If you wish to study a PhD, you will need an appropriate master’s degree too.
Finally, you must be unable to afford to study in the UK without the scholarship.

Depending on which scholarship you are applying for, you may need to apply through a National Nominating Agency, a university, or a Non-Governmental Organisation.

Annual deadlines for applications are usually in December. Check the page of the scholarship you are interested in at the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission website to see dates when they are announced for 2023-24.
